Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha (Marco de Canaveses, February 9, 1909 - Los Angeles, August 5, 1955), better known as Carmen Miranda, was a singer and actress Luso-Brazilian. His artistic career spent in Brazil and the United States between the 1930s and 1950s. sHe worked in radio, vaudeville theater, film and television. He came to receive the highest salary hitherto paid to a woman in the United States. His eclectic style makes it considered a precursor of Tropicalism, Brazilian cultural movement emerged in the late 1960.
